Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, we are always learning.

Welcome to our blog on Pregnancy and Birth, some of this information you may know but I guarantee you will learn some incredibly valuable things you have probably never read before.

Pregnancy does some amazing things to our body. One of them being the release of the hormone RELAXIN which along with the growth of the baby contributes to big changes in the shape of our spines. The spine is vital as it houses our nervous system which in turn directs our bodies. It can cause many uncomfortable symptoms such as headaches, excessive fatigue, nausea, reflux, back pain, neck pain and carpal tunnel.

Structural alignment via chiropractic care can also encourage great positioning for baby and optimal birthing. Now that is something we all want right?

What is the Webster Technique?

The “Webster Technique” that is performed by chiropractors,  helps balance the pelvic muscles and ligaments. The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment technique that reduces interference to the nerve system and balances maternal pelvic muscles and ligaments. This in turn reduces torsion in the uterus, a cause of intra-uterine constraint of the baby and allows for optimal fetal positioning in preparation for birth. It can prevent or convert a breech presentation. It should be started as soon as your baby is in the breech position or before 35 weeks for the best results. Not only is it safe but it’s also highly beneficial! Not only does it help with the pregnancy itself but it can also help with the baby. Mums stop at nothing to ensure her baby’s health during her pregnancy and after birth this naturally continues! With our extensive training on pregnancy and ongoing education on prenatal and postnatal care, you will feel at peace with your decision to have Chiropractic care.

What makes Chiropractic with Applied Kinesiology different?

Chiropractic with Applied Kinesiology can not only find structural misalignments, it can also find nutritional deficiencies, gut problems and emotional stress which can all affect your pregnancy and your baby. It is great if you can find a Chiropractor that specialises in both fields.

Should I have my baby checked by a Chiropractor?

It’s strongly recommended babies are checked after high risk births such as premature, breech, forceps or vacuum delivery and emergency caesarians.

Could a newborn that is not taking to breastfeeding be suffering from the effects of trauma in the birth process? Yes, if your baby’s jaw or neck has been injured during the birth, he or she may only feed on one side.

Does a Mum give up breastfeeding, often desperate, after trying so hard as baby fails to latch on, gags, pulls off or cries excessively, or does Mum take baby for a thorough examination to her Chiropractor? I think the later of that sentence makes a lot more sense for a happy mum and happy baby. A staggering 94% of infants respond to Chiropractic care for colic, ear infections and many other conditions such as bed wetting, constipation, asthma, eczema and sleeping problems. If the Chiropractor sees the problem is medical, they will refer on to appropriate health professional.
